Ideas For Change and Resources
“Instead of stigmatizing mental health issues as somehow embarrassing or shameful, we need to put it out in the open. Every kind of community experiences it. We need to stop defining one way to be normal. No one is disgraceful or abnormal for being mentally ill."

Ideas for Change

Creating meaningful conversations and facilitating discussion continues to be crucial in the work to spread mental health awareness.  Our hope for this website is to contribute to the campaign to not only spread awareness but also spread knowledge in these areas which might not receive as much acknowledgment in the discussion of mental health.

Some takeaways from our work include:

  • Seeking ALTERNATIVE METHODS of therapy or care, ESPECIALLY if you're facing significant barriers financially, personally, and family.

  • seeking emotional SUPPORT and therapy ONLINE - these costs are often cheaper than options touted under health insurance.  Out-of-pocket can be made affordable!

  • EDUCATE oneself in costs, healthcare, and financial literacy: How can you expect to UNDERSTAND without knowing the costs, fees, expenses?

  • Know your linguistic and cultural barriers, as well as a means to assist in navigating the hard conversation with family members!  We provide some tips in navigating this conversation in our 'How to Start the Conversation' Page
