I identify as an Indonesian-Chinese-Vietnamese-Japanese American, and grew up overseas as a military dependent. As a transfer to UC Berkeley majoring in Political Science and Legal Studies, I hope to pursue a career in justice and international affairs! As a person who struggles in mental health, I found it imperative to spread awareness and destigmatize mental health, especially within the Asian-American community.

I am a Chinese American and rising Junior at Monta Vista High School who is currently exploring various career paths. I think that mental health is an important issue that has often been forgotten or ignored, and hope to increase awareness of mental health issues as to allow students to get help if needed. Students should be happy and cherish the time that they are still students, instead of suffering under a load of mental health problems.

I am a Filipinx-Mexican-American who was born on a U.S. military base in Heidelberg, Germany. My parents and I moved to San Jose, CA when I was two years old. As a rising senior at Independence High School, I hope to pursue a career as a Nurse Anesthetist! I am also currently in the process of starting my own jewelry and sticker-making businesses! I became involved in this project in order to spread awareness for the mental health of individuals facing intersectional discrimination.

I am a Japanese American attending UC Santa Barbara in my sophomore year. My career interests are in Global Business and Equal Opportunities Representation, while my curiosity in mental health was piqued as a frequently discussed topic among the current generation - with the advent of social media, discussion among younger people has increased. I wanted to analyze the existing stigmas and potential steps we can take to fill the gap between the older and current generations.

Hello! I'm Chinese-Vietnamese American, and am a second-year at San Francisco State University. I'm majoring in Business, and minoring in Asian-American Studies. I'm interested in mental health because I'm passionate about starting a change in the mindset of mental health by starting it in our own communities. I was drawn to this project because I wanted to know the different perspectives and experiences as well as the opinions of different people.

I am a Chinese American majoring in biochemistry at UC San Diego. I’m hoping to pursue a career in the health, medical, or pharmaceutical fields, and have an interest in the development of treatment for illnesses (including mental health). I gained interest in mental health after being diagnosed with anxiety at a young age, and chose this project topic because I want to better address the barriers between the AAPI community and mental health.

Hello! I am a Chinese-Vietnamese American and a senior at Independence High School. I am hoping to pursue neuroscience and computer science in the future, and I aspire to find a profession that incorporates the two fields. I have a strong interest in mental health due to its role in creating a healthy, balanced, life. I was drawn to this project because I wished to become more educated on reasons as to why mental health may be neglected, especially in the AAPI community.

Hi! I’m a Vietnamese-American and a senior at Piedmont Hills High School. I hope to major in political science or public policy. As a child of Vietnamese immigrants, Asian Americans and mental health was a subject I wanted to explore since a lot of refugees have not been able to seek help due to stigma and healthcare barriers.
